Financial literacy classes at church
First Southern Baptist Church in Glendale will host a series of meetings called “Financial Peace University” teaching people how to manage their money, get out of debt and save for the future.
Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Dave Ramsey will teach participants via video how to get out of debt, save, invest and buy a car with cash.
The church said it conceived the idea out of concern that some residents in the community are struggling to make ends meet amid turbulent economic times.
The church will host a preview of the educational series at 6 p.m. March 30 at Southern Baptist Church, 725 N. Central Ave.
The regular classes begin on April 13. Child care is provided if parents RSVP.
The classes are free, but those in attendance will have to buy their own materials.
The Verdugo-Glen Chapter of the American Business Women’s Assn. will host a fashion show and luncheon to benefit student scholarships and member education programs at 10 a.m. May 3 at the Castaway, 1250 E. Harvard Ave. in Burbank.
The event will include a silent auction, door prizes and fashions by Annie’s Scandal.
Tickets for the event are $40, and checks should be made out to ABWA Verdugo Glen Chapter and mailed to Donna Hempel, 1177 North O’Malley Ave., Covina, CA. RSVP by April 19.
