The school board approved an agreement with Tomit Consulting for construction management services for the first phase of construction at Columbus Elementary School.
Construction management firms coordinate between other firms and constituent groups to make sure the project is progressing smoothly.
WHAT IT MEANS
The estimated cost of the construction management services for this portion of the Columbus project is about $111,000.
The school board approved two separate agreements with Lundgren Management Corp. for construction management services for two distinct school district modernization projects.
Under the first agreement, Lundgren would provide construction management services for the Glendale High School modernization project.
Under the second agreement, the firm would provide construction management services for the construction phase of the Crescenta Valley High School defects repair project.
WHAT IT MEANS
Construction management services for both projects would be provided as needed on an hourly or monthly basis.
The board reviewed a proposed schedule of board of education meetings for the 2008-09 school year.
The schedule listed the proposed meeting dates from July 2008 through June 2009. In most cases, the meetings were scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
In addition to the listed meetings, board President Joylene Wagner suggested the board schedule a study session in September.
WHAT IT MEANS
The meeting schedule was presented to the school board as an information item. The board will vote on the proposed schedule at a future meeting.
Members of the Glendale and La Crescenta Masonic Lodges presented employee recognition awards for outstanding service to several dozen Glendale Unified employees.
It’s the 37th year the Masons have honored district employees in this way.
WHAT IT MEANS
More than 60 school district employees — including teachers, custodians and secretaries — received framed certificates in recognition of their work in public schools.
