Published: Last Updated Tuesday, April 22, 2008 11:33 PM PDT
ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES

Trustees approved an agreement with the firm NTD Architecture for architectural services associated with the remodeling of the college’s Child Development Center.

The Child Development Center is an on-campus facility that houses multiple preschools and is used as a “lab” school for college students who are studying child development.

The remodeling will expand the indoor space of the center by enclosing an existing covered alcove.

WHAT IT MEANS

The agreement permits the college to spend no more than $25,000 for architectural services for the project.

Bids for firms to do the remodeling work are expected to be awarded by the end of June.

OFFICERS

The board of trustees selected new members to serve as officers in the positions of president, vice president and clerk.

Victor King, who was vice president, was selected president. Vahé Peroomian, who was the board clerk, was chosen to be vice president.

And Anita Quinonez-Gabrielian was chosen as the clerk.

WHAT IT MEANS

The board members will serve one-year terms in their new positions.

ONLINE ORIENTATION

Dean of Student Services Jewel Price showed the trustees the college’s new online student-orientation feature, an interactive computer program that uses video and text to provide information on topics like academic programs, financial services and campus life.

WHAT IT MEANS

The orientation program is available on the school’s website.

LEGAL SERVICES

Trustees approved an agreement to retain the law firm Baker, Olson, LeCroy & Danielian for security-related legal services. The firm will assist the college in obtaining restraining orders when necessary.

WHAT IT MEANS

The agreement is a result of difficulties the college had in obtaining a restraining order in the aftermath of the alleged assault of a college faculty member by a former student in February, college officials said. Funds for these kinds of legal services would be capped at $5,000.
