Americana opening activities
City officials are giving advance notice to downtown residents that loud cracks and pops heard today could be the result of a fireworks display marking the private grand opening of the Americana at Brand, and not a public safety crisis.
The fireworks, which will likely hit the skies sometime after 10 p.m., will culminate a private, black-tie grand opening celebration Thursday night as Caruso Affiliated gears up to unveil its 15.5-acre mixed-use behemoth to the general public at 9 a.m. Friday.
The public grand opening, which will feature addresses from developer Rick Caruso, Mayor John Drayman and other officials, is expected to kick off a weekend that will see tens of thousands of shoppers and curious pedestrians from all over the region throughout the weekend.
The grand opening dedication ceremony will be followed up with a performance by the USC marching band and trolley rides around the property. Attendees will then have access to the Americana’s 74 retailers — including Kate Spade, Kiehls, Tiffany and Co. and Katsuya — starting at 10 a.m., when doors officially open for business.
