SOFTBALL

Glendale 6, Arcadia 4: The Nitros stunned the two-time defending Pacific League champions by rallying for four runs in the sixth inning on Wednesday.

Amy Bishop went the distance in the circle to pick up the win and also belted a mammoth two-run home run in the fourth inning.

“It’s a fun competitive game with them,” said Glendale Coach Christine Paknik, whose club narrowly lost to the Apaches 2-0 earlier this season. “I don’t know what it is, but we bring it against them.”

Trailing 4-2 entering the sixth, the Nitros (5-6 in league) got bases-loaded hits from Brittany Skoien, Christina Olivares, Tatiana Mejia and Samantha Dickens to take a lead they would never relinquish.

The Nitros will next face host Pasadena in another league game at 3:15 p.m. Friday.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis in Mission League prelims: Six St. Francis athletes qualified for the league finals after turning in good efforts Wednesday at the prelims at Wilson Golf Course in Griffith Park.

Vincent Korth carded a one-over-par 73 to lead the Golden Knights (10-7, 8-5 in league for fourth place). Adrian Guy had a 77 for St. Francis, which got a 78 from Richie Maloof, an 80 from Bobby Coffin and 81s from Chris Campbell and Pat Degnan.

Each will be among a group of 31 that will compete in the league finals, which will begin at noon today at Harding Golf Course.

The Golden Knights will then participate in the CIF Southern Section Western Team Divisional, which will be held at 8 a.m. Monday at Montebello Golf Course.

BASEBALL

Pasadena Poly 5, Flintridge Prep 0: The visiting Rebels fell to 7-11-1 and 3-5-1 in the Prep League following a league loss Tuesday.

Will Peterman had the lone hit for Flintridge Prep, a single in the third inning.
