John Barbaro Scholarship Night

The Crescenta Valley High baseball team will meet St. Francis in a nonleague game at 6 p.m. today at Stengel Field.

Several events will be held prior to the contest, including John Barbaro Scholarship Night and the celebration of the 1998 Crescenta Valley squad that captured the CIF Southern Section Division I championship.

Dona Maria’s will serve dinner beginning at 5 p.m. All proceeds will go to the John Barbaro Scholarship.


Annual local tennis tourney being held

The Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter (Ararat) is hosting its seventh annual tennis tournament at Glorieta Park in Glendale. The event, which will run through Sunday, features around 200 local athletes. Individual and doubles will compete in 19 different categories.

Tournament matches start at 8 a.m. today and Sunday.

Fan Appreciation Night to be conducted

The Crescenta Valley High baseball team will meet rival Arcadia in a Pacific League game at 7 p.m. Friday at Stengel Field.

It will be Fan Appreciation Night. Raffle, prizes and more will be featured.

Crescenta Valley Little League sign-ups

The Crescenta Valley Little League will hold sign-ups for the upcoming fall season from noon to 4 p.m. May 17-18 at Montrose Park.

The baseball and softball seasons are open to boys and girls ages 7-15. There are no league boundaries and all participants are welcome.

CV Soccer Club seeking players

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club is holding tryouts for several of its boys’ teams.

Next year’s Under 10, 11, 12 and 13 teams are looking for interested players. Players between 9 and 12 are encouraged to try out.

Assistant swimming coach needed

The Hoover High swimming team is seeking an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

CSA baseball/softball registration set

Registration for the 2008 Crescenta Sports PONY baseball and ASA softball seasons will be held by mail.

The leagues are open to all area boys and girls ages 4-16.
