Published: Last Updated Tuesday, April 22, 2008 11:33 PM PDT
ON THE AGENDA

The following items will be considered at today’s Glendale Unified School District Board of Education meeting:

MEETINGS SCHEDULE

The board will review a proposed schedule of board of education meetings for the 2008-09 school year.

The schedule provides the dates of the meetings from July 2008 through June 2009. In most cases, the meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The meeting schedule is being presented to the school board as an information item.

The board will not vote on the proposed schedule until a future meeting.

EMPLOYEE AWARDS

Members of the Glendale and La Crescenta Masonic Lodges will present employee recognition awards to more than 60 Glendale Unified employees.

It’s the 37th year the Masons have honored district employees in this way.

California Masons celebrate the work of public schools during the month of April.

WHAT TO EXPECT

More than 60 school district employees — including teachers, custodians and secretaries — will be recognized with the Masonic awards for this school year.

TOMIT CONSULTING

The school board will consider an agreement with the firm Tomit Consulting for construction management services for the first phase of construction at Columbus Elementary School.

Construction management firms coordinate between other firms and constituent groups to make sure the project is progressing smoothly.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The estimated cost of the construction management services for this portion of the Columbus project is about $111,000.

The school board is expected to vote on the contract.

LUNDGREN MANAGEMENT

The school board will consider two separate agreements with Lundgren Management Corp. for construction management services for two distinct school district modernization projects.

Under the first agreement, Lundgren would provide construction management services for the Glendale High School modernization project.

Under the second agreement, the firm would provide construction management services for the construction phase of the Crescenta Valley High School defects repair project.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The school board is expected to vote on both agreements.
