In what could be described as a bold affront to karma, police say a thief stole $300 worth of “good luck money” early Tuesday from a Glendale meat market.

The money had been taped on a wall inside the market in the 100 block of South Adams Street as a symbol of good luck, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Police discovered the theft about 5:25 a.m., when they noticed the front window had been shattered.

The owner of the store could not be immediately reached.
