Police are investigating a 29-year-old Glendale man accused of exposing himself to two women on Brand Boulevard in separate incidents, police said.
Leandro Martins was taken into custody at 1:27 p.m. Thursday after a 28-year-old Pasadena woman identified him as the motorist who drove up to her on Brand Boulevard and West Stocker Street as he masturbated in front of her, according to Glendale police.
“This guy hasn’t indicated to us that he is ‘guilty’ of the crime,” Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
The woman had just exited a bus for a job interview, and was a bit early, so she sat at the bus stop, police said.
She was talking to her friend on her cellphone when Martins drove up in his Volkswagen Golf while masturbating, police said. He asked a question and then drove off.
The woman, who told police she was “extremely surprised and shocked,” got his license plate number and notified police, officials said.
Officers found Martins in the 200 block of East Fairview Avenue in Glendale and arrested him when the woman at the bus stop identified him as the culprit, police said.
No charges had been filed against Martins as of Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Another woman reported a similar incident on Monday at Brand Boulevard and Dryden Street, police said.
She also positively identified Martins as the man who exposed himself to her, Lorenz said.
In that incident, the woman was standing on the street at about 1:40 p.m. when she first noticed Martins in his Volkswagen Golf driving up and down Brand Boulevard before making two U-turns and pulling up next to her.
When he smiled at her, she smiled back and peered inside his car window only to notice him engaged in the sexual act, police said. She quickly looked away and he drove off.
Police are looking for additional victims and details on similar incidents in Glendale or the Los Angeles region, Lorenz said.
