A 25-year-old man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to punching a gas station clerk after he allegedly stole sandwiches.
Dana Hall was charged with one felony count of second-degree robbery in connection with the Jan. 4 incident at the Shell gas station in the 600 block of North Pacific Avenue, authorities said.
The robbery occurred at about 9:13 p.m. when Hall reportedly walked into the gas station and began stuffing sandwiches into his pants, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
Upon being confronted, Hall allegedly punched the clerk in the face.
Hall then fled the scene, but not before grabbing a banana, according to police.
Two days later, a Glendale police sergeant reportedly spotted Hall and another man drinking in the parking lot of the Days Inn on Pioneer Drive.
The men quickly dispersed, but the sergeant caught up to them in the 400 block of West Doran Street, Lorenz said.
The sergeant recognized Hall from the gas station clerk’s description of the suspect and arrested him, Lorenz added.
Hall is due back in court Jan. 19.
