Glendale is one of two Los Angeles-area communities battling for notoriety and cool cred on Real Estate blog CurbedLA.

The Jewel City has taken the lead in the poll so far, pegged against Los Angeles' transforming Arts District, an area revitalized by the upcoming Barker lofts, a new Urban Radish grocery store, Stumptown Coffee and slew of pedestrian and bike plans.

In 2013, the Glendale Galleria opened a Bloomingdale's and remodeled its design. Nordstrom arrived at the Americana at Brand, while international dumpling phenomenon Din Tai Fung started serving at Brand Boulevard.

Plans to add a mixed-use project featuring a five-screen Laemmle Theatre and lofts are in the works, along with an upcoming park above the 134 Freeway and Disney's plan to renovate the Grand Central Air Terminal.

The Curbed Cup Finals continue until noon on Thursday. To vote for Glendale or the Arts District, visit CurbedLA's Curbed Cup Finals.
