While Glendale police officers and firefighters hope to outplay each other on the court at the fourth annual Hoop Heroes event, they are also trying to raise funds for the Salvation Army’s Zone Academy.
The program also offers tutoring in math, language and computer skills for students ages 8 to 13.
The Salvation Army is looking for donations to add to its food pantry, which provides supplies to 700 people per month.
The nonprofit organization also distributes 12,600 pounds of food per month.
The game will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the high school, 1440 E. Broadway. To attend the game, bring $5 and a canned food item.
A $500 prize also awaits the person who makes a lucky half-court shot.
