There were originally five furlough days on the books to save the district $3 million.
The remaining four furlough days still remain on the books, but officials are planning to rescind one per year beginning 2015-16. Across the district, one furlough day taken by Glendale Unified employees would save the district $650,000.
“We’re very excited,” said Maria Gandera, assistant supt. of human resources for Glendale Unified. “Both GTA and the district are very excited about this news.”
The item will also move to the Glendale school board for their approval during an upcoming meeting.
