A 50-year-old Glendale woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing money twice from her 20-year-old daughter’s bank account to buy crack, police said.

Hilda Villarta told police she entered her daughter’s bedroom and stole a check to withdraw cash to buy the drugs, according to Glendale police reports. Villarta has allegedly been addicted to crack for at least 20 years.

Villarta’s daughter checked her online bank account at school, where she noticed that her account was overdrawn and someone had cashed a $140 check, according to reports.

A week before, Villarta told police she stole her daughter’s debit card and also withdrew $140 to buy crack, according to reports.

At that time, her daughter reported the theft to her bank, police said.
