A Van Nuys man was arrested Saturday for allegedly lying about his identity to a police officer and later methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia were reportedly found in his car, police said.
Jorge Reyes Jr., 31, was pulled over by police at Harvey Drive by the Ventura (134) Freeway for expired registration tags, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.
Reyes apparently lied to the officer about who he was to avoid being arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and was later positively identified, Lightfoot said.
A consent search of Reyes revealed a small nylon bag located in his right front pants pocket that contained a burnt glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, she added.
Reyes' wallet, found in the purse of a female passenger, also contained a small clear plastic baggy containing a white powdery substance resembling methamphetamine, Lightfoot said.
Reyes was placed under arrest and charged with possessing methamphetamine as well as false impersonation of another person.
He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
