Glendale resident Tina Karwasky was selected Wednesday as one of 40 tennis players who will represent the United States at the 34th annual International Federation Team Senior World Team Championships in late April.
The announcement was made at the ITF headquarters in White Plains, N.Y. The tournament is the senior equivalent to the Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions.
Karwasky was selected to the women’s 55-and-over squad that will participate in the Connolly Cup.
The U.S. team is the seven-time defending champion in the 55-year-old age division.
The event will take place at different clubs across the Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton area in Florida for the first time since 2002. The tournament individual competition takes place from April 21-26, while team action goes from April 27 to May 4.
