BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 74, Rio Hondo Prep 52: Big nights from Kyle Hamane and Robert Cartwright Friday helped to secure the Rebels’ seventh consecutive Prep League championship and 12th in 13 seasons.

Hamane sank four three-pointers en route to 18 points to go along with eight assists. The Stanford-bound Cartwright had 17 points, eight assists and four steals.

Scott Tsangeos added 12 points, while Andrew Tsangeos chipped in 10 for the Rebels (11-12, 7-0 in league).

Muir 62, Glendale 46: With a loss on the road Friday night, the Nitros fell to 8-16, 3-9 in the Pacific League.

Steve Arakelyan had 16 points for Glendale, with Tyler Lousararian chipping in 14.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 65, Pasadena 22: The Falcons held a 33-point lead after three quarters and rolled to a Pacific League home victory Friday afternoon on senior night.

Tanisha Minassian led the way for Crescenta Valley (17-8, 8-3) with 15 points, while Cynthia Shahbandeh added nine points & Jacqueline Wilson chipped in seven points.

Muir 64, Glendale 62: The Nitros were dealt an upset in Friday’s Pacific League game on the road despite a huge night from Kailyn Gideon, who had 17 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three steals, while Kristina Sahakian had 19 points and eight rebounds.

Burbank 49, Hoover 37: The Tornadoes lost at home in Friday’s Pacific League tilt, dropping to 3-15, 3-9.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Crescenta Valley 8, Redlands East Valley 6: Rebounding from a loss to top-ranked Riverside Poly on Tuesday, the Falcons, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division V, defeated fifth-ranked Redlands East Valley on the road Friday.

Ashley Taylor led the way with three goals, with Audrey Taylor and Lynley Fernandez adding two goals apiece. Natalie Krebsbach added a score as the Falcons improved to 20-6 with the Pacific League tournament on the docket next week, beginning with a 5:30 p.m. semifinal match against fourth-place Burroughs on Tuesday at Burbank High.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 1, Pasadena 0: The Falcons maintained their second-place standing in the Pacific League with Friday’s road win thanks to an Izzy Costilla goal.

Crescenta Valley improved to 8-8-1, 8-3-1 in league, with Hannah Weingarten and Susanne Carpenter assisting on the lone score.

Flintridge Prep 4, Westridge 2: Katherine Pinney tallied a hat trick to lead the Rebels to a Prep League road win on Friday afternoon.

The Rebels (10-4-4, 5-1-1) won their fifth in a row and are unbeaten over their last six. Kaitlin Liston also scored for Prep.
