We live in a constitutional republic in which the federal Constitution is the basis of our laws. President Obama received almost 60 million votes by citizens of the U.S. who entrusted him to lead and to follow the Constitution. Next a civics lesson. Article one, section seven of that Constitution allows the president to veto any legislation he or she deems inappropriate. Presidents have vetoed congressional legislation since the origin of our country. Ronald Reagan vetoed 78 bills.
